What a Red Card in Powerlifting Means

WHAT'S SO FUNNY, YOU GAVE ME A RED!

šŸ‘”

In competition, when you miss a lift, you will see three circular lights come up with three different colors - red, blue, or yellow. Here, we will talk on the šŸ”“šŸ”“šŸ”“

ā¬‡ļø

Each discipline has a different meaning for the šŸ”“ light so knowing the lights will help you correct what is wrong.

šŸ—

Squats

The technical fail here is failure to bend the knees and lower the body until the top surface of the legs at the hip joint is lower than the tops of the knees - depth. This is an easy one to know it is widely discussed and posted about.

šŸ¦

Bench Press

Here the red card is the bar is not lowered to the chest or abdominal area. You will never see a šŸ”“ for this as everyone touches their chest. This was more prevalent many years ago with equipped but just doesn't happen anymore. So, don't worry about this infraction.

āš°ļø

Deadlift

The infraction here is failure to lock the knees and stand erect with shoulders back at the completion of the lift. So, lockout. This happens semi often as some athletes tend to let the shoulders round at the top and thus doesn't qualify as locked out. Soft knees is a big thing as well here. So lockout every. Deadlift. In. Training.

šŸ‘©ā€šŸ«

Now you know what the all the red card technicalities are and hopefully this clears some concerns up.
