What the F is a Lot Number in Powerlifting Meets

WHAT THE F@$K IS A LOT NUMBER?

🕵️

A lot number is a number assigned to you at weigh-in. It is randomly generated prior to determining the weigh-in list. So, if you weigh-in first, your lot number is #1 and so on.

👇

Why is that important?

In the event of two lifters choosing the same weight, the lowest lot number athlete will lift first. So, the lot number comes into play if two athletes chose the same attempt.

This can either help you or hinder you. From a coaching perspective, you usually want to go second (higher lot number), so you know the outcome of your competitor.

⬇️

So, the perk of a lower lot number means you weighed in earlier and had more time to relax, re-feed, re-hydrate, and warm-up. But, the down side is you will lift first in case of the same attempt being inputted.

⬇️

So, do you want to weigh-in earlier or have the ability to go second when attempts of the same load are being inputted? I know I would choose earlier weigh-ins, but I ain't breaking records or fighting for tight placings, hehe.
