Over the years I have seen many athletes try to bend the rules or use grey areas to their benefits (as they should!), but there are areas that don't help at all.
🤓
My top 3 things that don't help you are:
👨🏫
🥇Don't chalk your butt on the bench! Seriously, chalk does not help your butt stick to the bench, but what it does is gives me a clear picture if your butt is not on the bench. Easy to see white on a black bench. No chalk on your ass!

🥈 Telling the referee you can't lock your elbow or knee before comp. The IPF got rid of the medical exemption rule years ago regarding conditions where you can't fully lock out. So, if you tell me prior, well, I will have that in the back of my mind during and likely catch it now easier. Tell me nothing!

🥉 Arguing with the jury and shoving a phone in my face. First, I do think we need video review for jurys - yes, referees miss things and video is used in almost every other sport. However, we don't use it at the moment. SO, if you shove a phone in my face and tell me your lifter was right, that will likely not help your cause. Take two breathes before you approach the jury, explain your case and say you have a video, but ask if we want to see it. I have been on the coaching side of this many times and I know 💯 the frustration of not getting your athlete an overturn, but that is the nature of our game.

These are my top three, so if you don't do these, great! If you do, reassess why you are doing it and maybe adjust your processes.
