Everyone these days have a tight pair of knee sleeves and they can be a challenge to put on and take off. There are certain rules and procedures in how they are put on in the IPF we need to be aware of too.

🔻

According to the IPF rulebook; "the technical controller shall reject any knee sleeves that have been put on the lifter with the assistance of any other person or method, such as the use of plastic sliding, the use of lubricants and so on." (Pg. 37)

🔻

What this means is you have to put the knee sleeve on yourself, with no helpful devices, on bare skin. However, you can have someone help you take them off. So keep that in mind if you want to get your knee sleeves off faster, you can use alternative methods and someone to help.

This should be in included in your warm up regiment as you need to account for how long it takes you to put your sleeves on and off.

With the tightness of the knee sleeve, there is some diminishing returns for your sleeves. In my experience, I have found using a medium (I am 120kg 🥔) to be as beneficial than when I used smalls. And, smalls took me 15mins+ to get on.

With neoprene having high elasticity with a limited stopping point in the fabric, you only get so much out of sleeves as they continue to stretch, unlike knee wraps where the fabric stops stretching at some point allowing for more return in motion. So, you may not need that super tight sleeve to get the value needed.

What size do you wear?
